I personally don't think he did.

If you look at the slow motion you can see the hand movement, but then look at it at regular speed and you see someone wrestling with the car trying to regain control.

It is what it is. I don't see them overturning the penalty because the FIA will lose further credibility. But Vettel has to stop making stupid mistakes under pressure.

Rumours of Alonso back to replace Vettel? One can only hope.

Ya, not sure how that happens, some weird random shit in many topics.

            Ricciardo chimes in.

“If he [Vettel] pulls a little further to the left, he’ll spin. When he brakes on the grass, he’ll spin too. There was not much room for Lewis but still enough,” Ricciardo told reporters in Montreal.

“I had an identical situation with Lewis in 2016 Monte Carlo.

“He had to go through the emergency exit and almost pushed me into the wall on his return.

“With me it was tighter than now with him. He didn’t get a penalty. That was a good thing. It was a hard racing.”

Ya, indexing is messed in a bunch of topics. There's a new update for vBulletin available... gonna take some time.

Yeah these guys are absolute gods when it comes to driving race cars, but even so they're reacting in a blink of an eye.

Could Vettel have done anything different once he made the mistake? I don't think so. It's impressive that he saved the car.

Could Hamilton have made a great passing move there and got by on the left? Sure. But he had no time to react either, and that's where he ended up.

I would have liked to see someone else other than a Mercedes driver win a race. But I'd take Verstappen over either of these guys. Hopefully Red Bull / Honda closes the gap.

I'm disappointed the chosen penalty stopped them from racing.

Yeah, after the penalty Lewis backed off. Disappointing for sure; would have been better to see them race.

Ferrari didn't tell Leclerc about the penalty either.

Would have screwed vettle even more but they could have backed vettle into Lewis given leclerc a chance to pass for the win.

Or they could have had leclerc come in for softs and fight with bottas for fastest lap.

But Ferrari strategy is run by morons it seems.

Its a disgrace that were even talking about "backing guys up. There is something fundamentally wrong when your able to do that in a race.

It’s essentially a street circuit. Not that hard to do.

Yeah according to Binotto they "forgot". Sure. Like his race engineer doesn't have a brain. They DECIDED not to tell him.

I was wondering why they weren't trying something. Maybe squeeze Hamilton between the two of them. Get him fending off Leclerc, slow him down, whatever. Maybe even get Leclerc in front of Hamilton and hold him up 5 seconds behind Vettel and then they can get a 1-2. Might have worked. Better than a guaranteed loss.

Could not stand all the moaning from Vettel during the race...
Put it behind you...and ask the team to come up with a plan like Doug suggested.

I get that there is a lot of emotion and passion, but man up. Switching the position markers was just childish.
