Williams also unveiled their new car, livery is meh. Looks like Williams' budget is affecting lighting. New team is Rokit Williams F1.
Very curious to see how they do this year, hopefully a step forward for this iconic team.
Also itching to see how Kubica does with a full-time drive, and pressure from the talented novice George Russell.

        Renault today!

        What the key men said:

        Cyril Abiteboul:*
"When you walk around Enstone you feel the passion and dedication to racing.
"The first phase of the plan was regeneration- you will see pretty much every single area of the factory has been improved if not completely transformed, from*wind tunnel*instrumentation, manufacturing, milling machines, clean room, race bays, every single area improved in order to compete on the same level as the best."

        Daniel Ricciardo:*
“Bonjour! Je m’appelle Daniel! I just wanted to learn French, that’s why I’m doing this”

        Engine chief Remi Taffin:*
"These regulations are extremely complex. We know them and understand them and had time to put in place a structure."
"We have the structure and we have the people now.*Eventually, we can see the result of it. We have worked hard on the ERS and worked a lot on the ICE [internal combustion engine]. In 2018 we have been introducing some new concepts that proved to be successful and we have taken some of them further down the road and into 2019.
"The result is the best winter we have ever*had."

Man those square front end plates are off the rails, wtf.

The black/yellow on the Renault makes them hardest on the eyes, but they really do have a sharp front corner compared to the Red Bull car. I can't imagine that will be great in dirty flow (seperation at the start of the plate).

Actually between that Forrest Gump/ping pong inspired end plate and the Hoerner tip outside of it, the front wing is way more interesting than before. There is a drop from wing to tip using the plate, I bet there is a restriction on height for the plane but tip can be lower, and this is what they did with it. The rake of the exterior tip and on the outer plane would seem confusing though. What an odd machine.

Looking at the belly pan, whole car has lots of rake in that shot.

Toro car has a raised outer tip but has an inner lip under the plane. Probably a lot more amenable to the dique drivers trying to cheat over curbs, and just as effective keeping the air in.

So, you're saying they "Kvyat-proofed" it? LOL

Kvyat-proof would under estimate the Kvyat!

They should be attacking kerbs. I assume they will make it out of tough stuff so it can slide and survive if needed.

Yeah the wing is so simple compared to last year. Those endplates look like they were made by the marketing team.

The amount of rake most F1 cars have now is pretty insane. When you look at it, it doesn't seem to make sense why they have so much. But the reason is it actually acts like a big diffuser. The floor has to be flat for most of the car, and they can't have skirts coming down to help seal to the ground. But what a lot of the front wing, barge boards and floors do is generate vortices to create an air seal. Its like having a seal from the floor to the ground, but its generated by swirling air. Its actually very cool how they do it.

Hmm, looking back at cars they did have the funny endplates and hoerner tips, I just didn't notice. Took that gaudy Renault scheme to notice lol.

Yeah that rake is something else. The rule of thumb on a diffuser to maintain flow attachment is about 7*:

                        Checks out, LOL

I didn't know they were using the vortices to seal the underbody, makes sense though. Nifty. Hence lots of air inside and a mess outside.
