Every straight. I have to learn to keep it down harder in the corners though

Whoa. I heard about Denis spinning but it looks better than I imagined. Kept it tight and off the grass. Like watching ballet

    6:20

    Edit: 11:38 felt uncomfortable. Very.

Whoa, that was a lucky spin! No harm done.

Perfect storm track conditions... not wet enough for rain tires, too wet for slicks.

In car video from Race 1 (May 5th). Don't have any for Race 2 as the camera ended not working.

    FYI still converting now.

Yeah baby! It was a great race. And even though I missed the last lap sign they held up the PT group until I fueled and gridded. PT was light on cars and in this case everyone in PT2 was getting on the podium so it wouldn’t have mattered but it was great that thebegfirt was made to let me run both races.

The one with Daves car looks super cool. Sorry Grant, not the car, the background makes the car pop.

Was a great race, glad it wasn't just greasy and loose for me. Did 3 laps of qualy, came in and adjusted the shocks and let a bit more air out of the rears. Then queued up with Dave so we didn't miss grid like last time.

Got pole with a 2:24.9, and sitting there upfront with a few minutes to go, thinking crap I didn't fuel up enough. We'll see in the race I guess.

Race starts and I got a jump on Faster and Grant, enough to gap them with a few 2:24's and let them fight one another, then Grant got past Dave and I could still see him but managed a good gap at that point and went into fuel saving mode toward the end doing alot of lift and coast into 5, 8 and 10. Pushed in the other corners but kept it into the 2:28 and 2:29's till the end.

Right after checkers, the fuel light came on at 1/8 tank, so was enough to not get into any fuel starvation during the race. Solid but not that exciting of a race except some drifting onto the front straight, 3, 6, 8 and 14 mostly.

    Great bunch of peeps!

Well that was a roller coaster of a day.

Plan A: West Carleton Automotive said that they'd never seen an engine with that much damage that hadn't blown up. Bearings had busted and bits had gotten into the rings and wrecked them. So new bearings and rings. Still expensive but I was damned lucky. It could have blown at any moment.

Jay called me in the morning to say that they'd been working on the engine until midnight. He was going over to help with the final assembly, then they'd put it in the car. He asked me to come early to run some gentle laps to break in the engine (new rings).

Meanwhile the Plan B - running the Corvette in GT - had gone off the rails. Andre had drove to my place on Thursday, took the Corvette and left his truck in my driveway. But the tire installation was taking too long. MR to the rescue! Faster said they had a guy at Tubman who was good at installing the tires, so that was Plan B for the Plan B. Andre took the car over.

So I took the Tesla out to Calabogie early, to do the break in. Meanwhile Jay's guys had taken the Nascar around the paddock to check it out. Worked great except for the trail of oil behind it. Rear main seal. Got the bad news when I arrived. Crap.

A couple of people suggested I rent a Mustang. Okay off to see Jane. Most of the Mustangs are NOT built to CASC specs... was in the middle of discussing this when my phone rang. It's Andre. Corvette is ready. Yeah. I'm at Calabogie.

So MR to the rescue again! Andre got Pete to drive my car out to Calabogie. Unfortunately there was no way he'd make it before qualifications. In fact he arrived bang on 5:15, just as GT qual was ending.

Slapped numbers on the car. Checked the lug nut torque. Bled some air out of the tires. And off to the grid. The back of the grid.

Race starts. I'm at the back so the start was a laid back affair, waiting until corner 4 before I could even think of passing anyone. Then I got down to it. That was a LOT of fun. Started hunting down cars, one by one. Eventually passed nearly all of the field. I was a little surprised to discover that I came in 3rd in GT-1, all the way from the back of the grid. Not bad!

There was still one problem - Pete wasn't able to drive my car back to Ottawa, and I had rather too many cars at Calabogie. I need the C7 home on Tuesday because I'm going to the Glen. Hmmm... oh look, there's Mighty Micra! I had to twist her arm (okay not). She agreed to drive the Corvette home. Third MRacle of the day!

After some snacks and beer we headed off. Got home and Andre was picking up his truck, leaving his (winning!) race car in my driveway. Next challenge is to get the new wheels and the "rain" (street) tires ready for Tuesday afternoon. The wheels haven't arrived yet. For some reason the Corvette's logistics are working out really badly! Fallback plan is to take the Cup2's... and hope it doesn't rain.

Big thanks to Andre, Pete, Jay, Dave, and Victoria for making this crazy day come together.
