But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

    Interdasting...

So Formula F(ord?) (with Honda Engine) is less than half the cost of Spec Miata $/minute?

Also, while Spec 911 & E46 may cost less per minute, I wonder how long it would take to recoup/break even on the cost of the initial vehicle purchases.

Also check laptimes to factor cost / speed.

I have been looking at the FE cars they are interesting and this spreadsheet made them more so.

That costs per minute is crazy, and depressing.

$2.50-$5.00 is "cheap" racing. Fancy cars $5-15/min.

For comparison, a round trip flight to Shanghai in economy works out to approximately $0.25/minute of "flying time".
Business class for the same trip works out to ~$1.00-1.25/minute of flight time.

lol. And someone making $80,000/yr makes $0.64/minute before taxes/deductions. So more like $0.35/minute.

    Do not agree.
Formula VW (Vee) is not more expensive then Formula F.

My other car is 10 motorcycles that don't start

Friend was racing a Trans-Am car in Canada Cup. He figured it was about $100/minute.

Big things seem to be tires and engine hours. FF getting almost 2x the tire life for roughly the same cost, and 3x the amount of hours on the engine for less than double the cost.

That whole sheet looks anecdotal... but that's likely the only data available.

Yeah...I think this was guy on Apexspeed. Some of the US series are really different.
FWIW- In Canada; Fvee uses street radials, mine lasted 3 years. Motors just need a refresh (~$500/year)
Formula F also use street radials, but they are only good for 1/2 a season. The Honda motors are low cost, the Kents not so much.
I'd flip the values for the Canadian series.

there's nothing cheap in "Spec" series racing. probably spend more at the body shop!

I don't see rally in there... that's expensive!
