    I had a blast. And then I had a blast.

    So the engine wasn't 100% from the beginning. This was supposed to be a really good engine, was taken from very fast car that crashed at Mosport in the spring. This was the new car's first time out. It was slower than the other car, definitely down on horsepower.

    One of our teammates had an emergency and had to leave, so I got two sessions today. At least everyone got to run today.

    I noticed during my last session that the torque was just a tiny bit weaker than before. And it was starting to "pop pop pop" a bit when pulling back on throttle. Other than that it was working okay, no overheating or anything. About an hour in I was coming into temptation, maybe 150 feet before the 2 marker. I was starting to think about lifting at the 1 marker, and BANG. Lost power and smoke started pouring out of everywhere instantly.

    Not being able to see very well I braked hard and then drove into the grass at the Temptation entrance. I couldn't see her but the marshal was right beside me. I figured from the smoke that there was some fire, but I didn't know yet how bad it was. I popped the harness and pulled the seat back. Then I looked out the window and thought, yeah it's pretty scary to get out of the car here. Well it's just smoke, so I stuck my head out the window and flipped up the visor so I could breathe. Figured I'd actually get out if I saw any flames.

    After a bit the emergency trucks showed up and I immediately popped out of the window. They used three fire bottles on it. When I saw the paint melting off the hood I thought, "maybe next time I'll just get out" lol.

    After it stopped smoking they asked me to get back in for the tow. They pulled me through the cutout, but when they went to drive across the track the strap snapped. It was a bit melted. I hit the brakes just before it rolled into the track.

    They hooked up again and pulled me down to the west track pit out, where we had to do a U turn. At that moment the stupid strap snapped again. So now I'm sitting there with my car's butt sticking out past the pit wall. Lovely. But they hooked up again and towed me back to the trailer without incident.

    Dbg seems to have the best chump breakdowns. Car has yet to break with me driving... Hmm

    2nd overall, was a nail biter watching him close up the gap. fun weekend, lots of laughs, lots of could have would have should haves now. love it.

    Definitely a solid weekend. Drove with the fine gents at Red Cow Racing, Petr went out first and did this to the car. Lost the rear at "4 left" shot across the track and into the armco. Car was done, Petr has a a couple stitches in his knee an walks funny but other than that is fine.

    Thankfully they had just finished building a second car, so we went and got that, transferred over some parts from crashed car to new car and she was good to go. Took it out for a shakdown on Saturday, then completed the race on Sunday. Finished 25th overall Having missed 5-6 hours of racing.

    Had some epic battles, was a blast, one of which was trying to keep Greg behind me for a couple laps - should have some decent footage of that. May have cost them the win, my bad

    Those BMWs are good fun to drive!

    Wow. Looks like quite the weekend. Amazingly, corner 1 seems to still be the best corner at the track that eats cars. No surprise there.

    What not to do to a car battleling for race win while you're 6 hours behind.....unless it's Greg driving, in which case block at all costs.

    At about the 1:29:30 mark, Greg catches up in the VanWinden BMW - which I proceed to do my best to not let by....because...Greg.

    PB lap time in that car starts around 47:35

    Had a blast, fun car to drive - this is the 'spare' car on Sunday.



    Oh and add a 1 to the gear indicator..it's off.
