    Default Chumpcar 2017

Anyone here planning on racing in chump this year? Barb making it out of Doug's shop and onto the track? Metric? Anyone else on MR run a team and/or plan on getting into some Chump this year?

First race for Canada at Bogie May 13th. I'm going to try and race in chump a bunch more this year if I can, starting off in Daytona in 2 weeks with Twoth, and really hoping to find a seat for the bogie races.

Probably doing both Calabogie races and CTMP race with Twoth or PSG. Either crewing and racing or just crewing depending on budget.

Barb is definitely out for the first Bogie race. Would love to find a seat.

The guys aren't exactly jumping at coming over to put the engine in. Another engine, that is. We blew engines galore last year, and that last race was particularly brutal. We all agreed afterwards that we'd give it another shot. I guess we'll see.

I always said "Two TH" in my head, then I heard Greg say it "Tooth". Now that's all I see.

Would love to give it a whirl sometime this season.
    Probably going to hell.

Will be running the MX6 at Mosport, Edmonton, and possibly Laguna Seca.

Looking for local rides at Bogie.

But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

Chumping by buying seat time can't be cheap. My guess is anywhere from$1,500 to $2,500 for driving 2 to 4 hours + traveling expenses, $500 to $1K. Let's say $2,500 to $3K per weekend X 4 weekends = $10K to $12K. Actually it is pretty cheap because of no car maintenance but what happens if you total the car? Do you pay $500 (real value ) for it or $20K?

No, it's not cheap, but neither is racing. We were charging about break even for a weekend when all costs were added up. Most teams I know of have a pre-agreed on amount for total write off.

I would expect to pay $1000-$1500 for a weekend, varies greatly with the amount of racing, single 12 hour, dual 7 hours, dual 12 hours etc.

That would be on the cheap side and just for the drive right? I always wondered what happens you you buy seat time and the car breaks down and you don't get to drive or only drive half the time you were promised, do you get a refund?

Maybe a small one, maybe none at all. Entry fees, towing gas/maintenance etc etc etc had to be paid just to get there and back home.

Most teams do not give refunds. Most of the expenses have nothing to do with the actual driving. Entry fee, towing, prep etc.

Twoth told me if the car breaks they usually give you a discount or more start time at the next race.

I've done 4 races now where I shelled out a grand and did zero racing
