Well - the limo's getting old - 170,000 on the odo - so, yes - we will gut the interior and cage it. Main reason is for safety. As to platinum - that's going to be determined by our lap times. I don't think mine will get much better than 2:30 unless I go to slicks. To do that, I have to get 18" wheels custom built to clear the front Brembos. We'll see what happens . . . .

But Platinum will have multiple classes. No need for fast laptimes

I didn't realize that. In that case, I would prefer to run Platinum. Already have my Hans Device . . .

ya pat, seems to me the only difference between normal and platinum (other than cage reqs) is simply how aggressive you want to get. that's the way I see it.

funding dependent (it's looking good these days but I'm sure my wife will find SOMETHING that is a MUST HAVE for the kid lol) I plan to run the full series starting in gt to get used to the car again (didn't really get much seat time last year) and then try platinum. only proper wheel to wheel I've done was the 1st chump race at bogie. it was great but not hard cuz the cars mostly just passed me and not the other way around lol. the organizers seem willing to indulge that kind of arrangement....

Only need hans if faster than 2;20 anyway. Not that I'm trying to discourage the use.

Connell, to me the only difference is the passing, no need to be aggressive, in fact I'll have you removed if you are aggressive.

I was lucky enough at the 1st chump race to go up against a few evenly matched cars, and the open passing was awesome fun.

But yeah, every so often this cloud of fast cars would swarm past me like I wasn't moving. Barb ain't fast, but it moves. Well except when wheels try to come off.

If you want to use Hans...then you need harness.
If you want to use harness...then you need seat.

But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

It's a delightful slide - and it is great that we have a track and people who are making this happen.

For the conversion? The kits don't work with my helmet according to the videos I've watched but now you've got me second guessing myself. I'll look at it again tonight.

Either way, I should have an extra helmet for co-pilots
