We tend not to talk about our track brothers misfortunes until they do so because we care.

Just getting to this now. Impromptu family movie night

Not exactly sure what happened. The car felt strong all race and I was testing my/it's limits about the halfway point as I was out there all by myself for a while. Started going flat out through 15 in 4th when I realized I have always been holding back a little then shifted into 5th just before 16 and getting back on it. I'd never gone into 5th there before so came into 17 really hot. Felt awesome.

I did this a few times and with 3-5 laps to go (?) I came into 17 full steam but when I stepped on the brakes and down shifted the rear end broke loose. I caught it and only noticed coming out of 20 that my brake fluid and traction control fault lights were on. I quickly scanned the dash for other issues and with that distraction I shifted into 2nd instead of 4th. Fuck me. It felt like I caught it before the rpm needle spun too far but I can't be sure. I corrected the shift and kept driving.

The last few laps felt normal but I toned things down just in case. I lapped the Mini and Pat then the checkered flag was waved. Car still felt fine until I cruised out of 7 and lost power. Just felt like I ran out of gas. As soon as I took it out of gear it stalled. I'm still rolling towards Temptation and I'm waving people by but the car won't start. I tried cranking it but was just getting a solid thud, then tried popping the clutch in gear but that didn't feel good either. So I rolled through the cones that are blocking off West Track and waiting to be towed back.

Every gauge on the dash was reading normal except two odd things. The brake fluid lights and both rear tail lights were not working according to the monitor. They both went away when I attempted to restart it at the trailer once it cooled down.

It finally turned over but sounded sick. No rattling or clunking, just like the timing was waaaay off.

I checked the codes today and there are two. P1445 and P0340. The first is emissions related and on all of the time so not a concern. The second is the Intake Camshaft Position Sensor Fault. So, is it a fault because the camshaft isn't where it is supposed to be or because the sensor is faulty? That could be a $2-3000 question

Anyways, it was pretty stress free (relatively speaking) knowing that I was getting home no matter what was wrong and that I had the help of everyone to get it in the trailer. Mario, Mike, Jimmy, Chris, and two Jeff's...thanks a million, guys!

8 Legs is going to give me options as will Jimmy from Jim Lecari Auto. Used engine, built engine, fix this one, are all options. I should have a direction in the next week or so but with only two races left I'm not going to rush it.

I guess I should always watch the video before stamping out a timeline. Memory sucks.

Everything happened on the last two laps. I did have a slide out a few laps before but it seems unrelated.

That misshift sounds pretty bad though...

    Change it! You never know.

Or build a new moar powa motor. Both have upsides.
    Probably going to hell.

m3 swap on the E46 is apparently close to $10k. Not as easy as the E36

Lol. Arek is going to look at it first. Once I get word from him then the decisions need to be made. $5 sensor FTW
