    Another great night!

The weird thing, is I don't think there was even one car that past another in the GT challenge.

Cavanaugh had a good race. He started last because he didn't make the pace lap but passed a bunch of car to end up pretty far up the field.

is the rotor physically warped? I don't know, but when the whole car shakes when you apply the brakes, I call it warped. What do you call it?

could be brake pad material is built up in one section of that pad. Feels warped, but it's just got a raised section on it.

    Usually it's pad material build-up.

I did have actually warped rotors once, many years ago. The calipers seized and the rotors burned blue and warped. They machined the rotors, it drove home smoothly, and the next morning they were warped again! The rotors literally warped sitting in the driveway overnight. Went back and told them to replace, but they machined them again. The next morning they were warped again. I went in and insisted they change the rotors while I watched.

On the other hand, back when I was using HP+ on my S2000, my rear pads overheated and I was getting a lot of vibration. I switched in DTC60 pads. Still lots of vibration first lap, but 10 laps later it was nice and smooth. The new, more aggressive pads wore off the pad material that had transferred onto the rotors.

Yep. Pedal pulsation is usually pad material build up on the rotors. Proper bedding in or re-bedding usually takes care of the problem. An actual "warped" rotor is rare. All rotors are made of iron, because of iron's ability to dissipate heat. It is hard to warp iron. When you have what looks like grooves on the rotors, it is usually ridges of pad material built up. Nowadays, dealerships just say "your rotors are warped" - then replace pads and rotors and hand you a huge bill - when most of the time it is just pad build up.

Here's the procedure I use to bed in or re-bed in pads (on my own cars and my company fleet of vans):

Find a nice smooth paved county road with little traffic (or a race track). Take the car up to 60 kph then apply brakes with medium force down to 10- kph. Do not stop. Repeat 2 more times. This warms the rotors. Now take the car up to 90 - 120 kph and stand on the brakes, down to 10-15 kph. DO NOT STOP. Repeat 2 more times. Then continue to drive for at least 2 minutes to allow the rotors to cool, without using the brakes. This should burn pad build up off of the rotors and match the pads to a smooth surface.

Yeah I know that what we call a warped rotor is actually uneven bedding on the rotors. But every time I drive home with my race pads, they act more like a sanding paper because they are not hot, which usually always removes all bedding on the rotors and I have to start over, on my next lapping/racing day. On my first 2 laps I always make sure they are properly re-bedded

that one time, the car was still shaking, even though I tried real hard to clean them off and that's what I call warped, because I couldn't clean them off running them cold
