Default MCO Ted Powell race video

Here is Rob's in car video from the first 25 minutes of the Challenge race. Some good battles with several other ST1 cars. No race video from Sprints though as the car had a terminal failure during the Challenge race.

Nice driving Luc! Makes me feel better about what I do with my car every time I watch these wheel to wheels races.

Will watch the rest later. Got to go to work

Good job keeping it under control during the contact in corner 6 on the 8th lap. Pretty crappy to have your car die like that...

But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

Car died at the 25 minute mark of a 1 hour race. Really sucked for Rob as he was having a great battle with the #31 BMW (with V8 power no less).

New starter and newsed tranmission going in tomorrow, then new fuel pumps this weekend. Hopefully that resolves all the issues.

Nice dive bombs. Listening to the marshal channel during some of the races was interesting.

This years Ted Powell weekend was much more....shall I say....busy than previous years. Even had an a la tony stewart episode that turned out ok in the end.

    Dumb questions.
What are the rules to run in that series?
Ted Powell, is that a weekend race or the series?
    I’ve seen these GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 stickers on races cars a lot. What makes a GT1, 2, 3, 4 car? Speed.
Please educate me and I’m sure others will thank you too.

(I told you they where dumb questions.)

Gt challenge is based off of gt sprints.

    Sprints are short (20 mins)
Challenge is normally longer (1 hour, with a timed pit stop)

    Sprint link: http://www.casc.on.ca/road-racing/gt-sprints

    Challenge link: http://www.casc.on.ca/road-racing/gt-challenge

You need a racing license, and a race car that passes tech for the series.

Then add balls, and off you go.

The Ted Powell weekend is a CASC-OR sanctioned race weekend organized by the MCO. Sedan races are split into to race series: GT Challenge (1 hour and 3 hour races) and GT Sprints (3x 20 minute races).
GT Challenge classing is done by horsepower to weight calculations withs cars in GT, GS, ST1, ST2 and ST3 classes.

GT Sprints classing is done by lap time brackets with cars in GT1 to GT5 brackets.

Our car is classed as ST1 in Challenge (12.5 x203x1.05 Dyno factor hp for minimum weight of 2664 lbs) and GT4 in Sprints (lap time slower than 2:24 but faster than 2:30).

They ran the gt challenge and quebec super production at the same time last weekend, 2 pace cars, 2 grids, 2 green flags, one checkered. 48 cars. Was a great show. The Quebec guys are a little cray.

It was an amazing race while it lasted. Even late in the day the cool shirt was a must. One can see me flick the switch on when I'm coming through quarry on the end on the first lap.

Alan DeWolfe in the #31 BMW was amazing to dice against. Left great racing room.

The ITR driver on the other hand, not so much. I did apologize for having the front end wash out on me when he pinched a little down on me. Oddly he said that it was the third time this season that somebody has hit him on the rear quarter panel. And talking with other drivers made me realize that it wasn't all my fault. That he isn't the best driver to go through corners side by each. I do admit to having the front plow out and making the first contact. All good thigh. He wasn't upset at all.

I had some great brakes and ok tires, and home track advantage over the dudes up from Toronto. The car was definite podium material until something let go. I wish I could have taken it all the way to the end.

After having Ian drop the drivetrain I have no idea what caused the car to die. I'm guessing something fuel/ignition. But the dead starter and other minor issues with the transmission could all be contributing factors. No smoking gun yet.

    Great driving Rob.
Nice to see you take quite a few inside passes into corners where they didn't even bother defending, like into temptation and quarry.
