they are selling for premium $ too... drift tax.

Get an RX7 or an RX8 with a v8 swap. might be hard to find already done, but it would be ultimate.

    Just boost it.

Just 'cause Physk scared of boost, doesn't mean we all have to be.

Not sure I want any Frankensteins...V8's in small cars.

Not sure I "get" the ecotec in a Miata idea.

I don't have issues with boosted cars (Flex has ecoboost), but I'm looking for something simple, linear and not overly managed by an ECU.
The BMW inline 6 seems like a perfect motor.
Was thinking about an Audi S4 (wagon?)...but track prepared ones on rare, its heavy and AWD...and good lord...the gas.

Maybe one of those NC CTCC series Miata's? I'm sure they are pretty spendy too.

My other car is 10 motorcycles that don't start

BMW 128i with sport pack? It was discussed that at some point with Phil and Slick I think... I'm sure you could find one around 15k, pretty quick out the door, recent, no rust, low maintenance. Tons of suspension and brake mods too if you want.

S4's are no good. Pigs, with alot of weight in front of the front axle to make it awd. That and too many gadgets and luxury's for a track car imo.

Would love to see a stripped out 128! Tuned, header, Euro intake and you are getting near 270 hp.

But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

Mike can expand a bit more, but according to him MT in toronto has been working on mating a 2.4L ecotec directly to the tranny in a miata, and it works. It's an easy swap for a new/reliable engine that makes way more power. Still gives you great weight distribution, and gas mileage, too.

I've been wondering how a BMW inline 6 would work out in a Miata..any examples of that out there?

They have made a billet transmission adapter. Still a pretty easy swap from the pictures i've seen.

I6 will not fit, way too long.

those old rotaries are weird. I remember they couldn't shut down their car after the capital city speedway autox because a rotor would get stuck or something. One guy did... and then he was out of commission for a while. Looks cool though.

I vote for trying to find a clean E36. Miata's are so last week.

For more power, other than going F/I, not much was done N/A for these motors AFAIK.
