But there's a bigger point here. The 1-series is the last car that BMW engineered before the Germans, as a car-making culture, fell out of love with driving.

    Run the Rabbit.

You already have most of the bugs worked out. Think it is reliable enough?

I ran it around 20hrs this year without any major items coming up. The thing is, I'd like to make it faster/I'm still playing with it, and that won't go well during appraisal.

I wouldn't mind building a different shitbox from the ground up. If I can't make that happen and I don't build HulkRabbit, then PornoBunny will probably see chump car. Definitely looking to hit Chump/GT Challenge/other road series next year. I'd like to become a competitor in the Gentleman's series though

Edit: "The BUGS worked out..." I pardon the pun, good sir

Hmmm, I may be looking for a new team that is willing to spend a little money.

Would be nice to have radios that work, actual shop space to work on car, etc etc.

I think the 3 series is the way to go. Bone stock, gas, tires, oil....... GO!

Is it outside the spirit of it if my sister's friends who have access to wholesale car auctions gets the car? 'cause that might be full of win.

The value is based on the Chump book value/appraisal schedule, so where you get the car and what you pay is your own business. Wouldn't hurt our team effort though

I've got a lot of reading to do...guess I'll spend a bit of time on the Chump website.

Some of their rules are dumb, but they do have a lot. Forget $500 that's a gimmick

Just finished reading the relevant parts (not the technical bits yet) of the rules and they all seem really well thought out. I can see where this would/could cost much more than $500.

So now what? Where does one start? Guess with support from the important stakeholders... like SWMBO.

My old man has a 96 626 he may let go for Chump book value.. hrm..

For 2014 a fire system is required. I would expect the car to be a $5k investment (err, one way... its a racecar lol). I think that is what wing and others came up with when looking into it.

That seems about right. Then figure tow vehicle and some kind of trailer and shop space to work on it and drivers gear for everyone.

We figure it costs us each $700 per race weekend.

Still, by far the cheapest racing, for the amount if track time, you can do.
