    Default Helmet Choices.

What's your opinions on full face VS open face? I am leaning towards open face simply because I don't like having my face covered. Is there any disadvantages? This is what I am looking at.

    Open face.

    Closed Face.

    Thanks.

Also for comfort open face is way better and you won't get as hot.

Now the other question in reading Awndrays post is this one is Snell M2005 and apparently I need SA2005. Will CMP allow the M2005?

I used this document as a guide for required ratings...I couldn't find anything on the Calabogie site for helmet requirements. http://www.casc.on.ca/uploadedFiles/...0207161600.pdf
In my case I picked up a M2005 full face lid - all they checked for yesterday was helmet on and chin strap on. noone eyeballed the helmet rating.

To my knowledge, only MCO really cares about ratings really.

Nobody will check the rating. A motorcycle-rated helmet will work just fine. Keep in mind, if catastrophic were to happen and authorities were to come in to investigate an incident, then somebody would likely check the helmet.

The helmet is a matter of added safety. Remember that you have a big cage around you (your car) and you're wearing a seat-belt. The rating is a matter of legalese - especially when you're entering the licensed racing world.

Yeah I just did a google search and the best I could find was that only CASC requires SA rating. Any schools etc that operate at CMP said the M rating was fine. Guess I am good to go.

Disadvantage - Open face looks queer.

^^True. I tried a couple on the weekend and the chipmunk cheek look was much more noticeable with the open face.

Advantage - Open face allows you to wear a helmet to Beerfest. You can never be too safe.

I prefer the look of full face 100%. But I'd rather be comfortable and safe than look good and safe.
