You can drive a real F1 car at Shannonville, or at least you used to be able too.

karmaboy
July 16th, 2015, 08:20am
Yeah...pretty serious cars.
None of my business...but they are a lot of car, and you needed a special license back in the day to race them.
I think its a bit nuts to even think about driving them in a "gentleman" lapping series...especially on the short track.

Like I said before.
In F3000, you needed a special license, most of the cars had/needed support crews and setup engineers to keep them running.
So a couple of "gentlemen racers" are going out on questionable tires, with no prior knowledge or skill to run these things.
Sounds like a bad idea to me.
I just hope I'm at the other end of the track when things go wrong.

L'Abbe's car didn't go out in the last race because he wasn't feeling 100%...and he admits the car scares the shit out of him. he has a healthy respect for it, and the other racers.

Mario

Healthy respect for a car that can kill you is always good.

Againg, another beautiful car for Mark. I'm happy for him.

I can see how one of these would be dangerous sharing a track with slower cars. Every time I watch a vid of a Lehman trying to drive an f1 car it seems like you need to be moving at a rediculous speed to get the tires hot enough so that it doesn't spin out. Would be difficult managing that whilst manoevering around slower vehicles as well

I'm sure Mark and Richard will be respectful of everyone else on track. They have been at the pointy end of the grid for a while now and have not had any issues. I doubt Mark will be as fast as in his Stohr the first couple times out. He tends to creep up on the speed of the new car, and that's a very good thing.

His scariest drive to date was my old mustang. Took it out once and sold it haha.

I think it was only sold once... from Mark to Bill.

Bill messaged me on sunday to tell me he made it to 2:27 in OTA... and then the cam shaft disintegrated, and the entire motor exploded... yikes.

and then it was sold again.
