I guess still not cheaper than chump?

Nissan (http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/nissan/index.html) Canada is launching the Micra Cup which will run over the course of five weekends starting in May of 2015. For now, the league will run exclusively in the province of Quebec, though Nissan says it has potential to expand to other provinces in 2016. Each weekend will offer the competitors two hours of track time consisting of: a 30-minute trial, a 30-minute qualifying session and two 30-minute races.
To get a fully race-prepped Micra, participants have to drop only $19,998 CDN, which includes installation of all the modifications. For that price, you get a NISMO-tuned suspension, FIA-approved race seat with a five-point harness, a fire extinguisher, a modified exhaust, high-performance brake pads, a safety cage, a driver protection net, front and rear towhooks and new wheels fit with Pirelli high-performance tires.

SEE ALSO: 2014 Nissan Micra Review (http://www.autoguide.com/manufacturer/nissan/2015-nissan-micra-review-video-3917.html)Beyond all the add-ons, the Micra Cup will also have the seats, floor and door panels removed to reduce weight and prepare it for the conversion. Powering the car is the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 109 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque.

I've driven the Micra slow as balls.

Add slicks to Barb and she would be fast.....er

Add suspension and we should be mid 2:30s. Just wait!

I've been told to stop working on her.

Wait the B spec cars on slicks were 2:40 were they not?

These are slower :(

Not that I wouldn't drive one if I was asked too!

Youd better have a best friend who is a body shop guy

In these spec series, slow drivers aren't the prob but competitive top drivers are. No advatanges between cars so bumping and punting others is only way to get around. Makes for lots of bodywork on reg basis

That's a good point Robin.

Funny, I know a journalist that pitched immediately upon the announcement for nissan to provide him a car to race a full season with it.

He has zero money but hopes that he can find sponsorship. I wished him luck, told him to expect at least $15k in expenses before crashing.

His first response was he never even thought about what if the car crashes.... Yeah...

not sure if I overwhelmed him by telling him he needs to ummm get a race license (min $1000 probably for a school) then buy race equipment, $1500 - $2k min.

Plus he lives in Halifax so will travel to all the races. LOL gas costs! I appreciate his enthusiasm though and seriously wish him luck.

He said he has zero money, for serious so it will be tough.

Cheapest part of racing is buying the car.

These should be in the 2:30s if the weights come down under 2k lbs. My Rabbit ran 2:38 on StarSpecs with 5 more HP (optimistically) around that weight. Who knows what the suspension on those things is like htough lol
