I was just told that Capital City Speedway has a drag strip now. I guess I've had my head under a rock as it opened last year and I had no idea.

Has anyone been? The owner came in for an oil change today and said that racers are commenting that their trap times and speeds are dramatically different from Luskville.

It would be nice to be abusing the car on this side of the river and not have to worry about the cray towing nightmare if something goes wrong. Nice fresh pavement would be awesome as well.

He said it had an 1/8 mile, 1000', and 1/4 mile. I didn't question him on it as he seemed to know what he was talking about :noidea:

Didn't the old quartermile finish dangerously close to swamp marsh? Either way it's super ghetto.

The math looks legit.

Really? I can handle ghetto amenities but the track HAS to be better than Luskville.

;-) I'll probably only have the chance in the summer. I was hoping someone had already been and I could save the trip out if the track sucked.

Heres a tip, save your time and money and not go at all.

I was over there last year for one of their "drift nights" to tune the car. They let us run up and down the strip, and around the oval. It's very small, but good for a shakedown/tuning.

How fast can you actually get going and for how long to tune the motor?

We would come off the oval and run straight down the strip, probably got up to around 130 (top of 3rd gear) leaving lots of room to brake. I'm sure you could get going faster if you wanted to but we didn't need to. About 4-5 pulls in 3rd, was enough for Barrie to tweak/confirm a safe tune.

Sounds like a great place to road tune

Remember How much it cost and how busy it was?

Chris916
April 7th, 2013, 02:56pm
I think it was 15 or 20$ to run for however long you want. The time we went, there were maybe 7 other cars. Lots of people just hanging out, but it wasn't too busy on the track. Definitely a good bang for your buck just to pound on the car for a few hours.

Hmmm, this would be a better place to shake down the car instead of crossing fingers at bogie LOL
