meh.

there's a bump on the inside of turn 2 that if you hit it makes your car lift and then "land." Don't lift.

You'll be instructed I wouldn't get worked up about anything before hand.

respect the track, yet realize you can pretty much go faster everywhere.

watch the concrete patches - your tires are noisier on them, but they actually have a lot of grip. depending on the line, use them for your outside tires.

I heard they were slippery...

Easy. Drive smooth. C2 is 'scary' but easiest to learn to drive fast. Don't lift when shit goes all out of shape. C4 and C8-9-10 take longer to get to speed and perfect.

It is much easier to run off the track a bit than it is to recover from a mid corner spin started by lifting off the throttle too fast because you got unnerved mid corner.

Look where you want to go. If you start looking down (at curbs, looking for apexes when you should be looking at the exit, etc) you will not be smooth. And don't forget to breath properly. I've seen too many newbs hold their breath at times.

Enjoy it! Once you start laying down some good laps, you will be hooked!!!! 2 really is not that scary, as long as you get your turn in point set, there is a lot of grip right by the exit curbing that acts like a safety net, hell, the ALMS guys don't even brake for that corner. Going into 5 will look like you are driving into the side of a mountain.

This WILL be your favourite track......

Oh, and DO NOT lift, and gentle on the turn in.

Another suggestion. If you haven't already get some sim seat time with a friend who has rfactor or another go reality driving sim with Mosport on it. Or better yet, Grand Prix Legends After an evening of attempting to drive a old f1 car around Mosport and learning not to crash that, then you'll be just fine.

It's a breeze it has half the corners of bogie you'll figure it out.

Brake after the crest into 8. and 8 carries more corner speed than you think. it's a good ride. and have fun dude.

oh, bring gas.

McMosports are awesome... good thing they did not change the name to McCanadiantireMotorsportsPark because that would REALLY suck trying to mumble that in the morning before having any coffee or food.

T3 is my krypton...its a deceiving uphill fast sweeper. You need to enter perfectly; too early and you exit looking square at the tire wall, too late and you get pushed out too wide into the grass. Do it right and you carry insane speed into T4. Its hard to gauge the entry speed...if you did T2 well then you go into 3 with a surprising amount of speed, depending on the car you need to tap the brake (or lift slightly). If you messed up T2, then you are flooring it to T3 and the car is poorly weighted for the turn. Can't speak about T8...in the F1200 I do it flat out.

Oh ya!

Late apex is safer at this track. Brake straight and steady throtle throughout corners and BAM. The rest is learn the track and build up one lap ata time.

My fav track by far...

Oh ya, and if it is raining you drive the entire track off line. Brake on the inside line for the corner and cross 'the line' as late in the corner as possible. Way more grip. My little shit piss for power Jetta with 135 whp would qualify in the top 5 in a field of 35+ cars if it rained during qualifying. It made the sunny race very interesting when I get to C3 and C5. I tell you this so that it makes sure it doesn't rain for you ;)

okay,

lots of blind corners.

C8, 9 and 10 were a blast.

i was okay with 2 and 4 because of the Calabogie Short Track Corner 1.

Turn 5 was tricky for me to ride out...working on it.

turn 2 was the hardest for me to set up for and where 2 cars went really off...including this GTR.

Tons of fun and thanx to MR (SRS) I got signed off!

yep...it is the first year of the new generation (480hp?).

the other car was a mazda 6, went off the same corner. both air bags, cracked windshield and some body work.

i have never seen a car get any serious damage at calabogie.....

that subbie from last year - put in on the rocks in 4left, Gilles(from CADL I think , runs MCO autoX every now and then) wrecked his Mini - 4left again....

Calabogie is dangerous too, but still safer than mosport.

There was another STI in 2010 that put it off in 4left too wasn't there? He was up for the 3 balls weekend and jumped in on a Friday evening group, totalled the car.

Hell, Shawn hit the tires on the outside of quarry in what...2010? Not much damage, but still.

It happens. If you're going to do this sort of thing you have to understand that one day you may not leave the track in the car you got there in.

Glad to hear you had a chance to crack into Mosport. That place is intimidating and so much fun. Srsly about MR, best track club in the world, its like an addict support group lol.

Looking into doing a short 1 day DDT event with a friend in Aug, maybe hit up the big track for a few fun laps if we can sneak in.

My buddy with a R35 in Stittsville wrote off his old M-coupe in #2 a few years back, that was what made him buy the GTR lol.
