F1200 here in Ontario. Formula Vee in the SCCA
1200 cc Vee dub engine...yup...from 1965.
60 hp....but in a 1000lbs car...good for 140 km/hr on the straight at MIR.
Decent fields for most events...at least 15 cars for any race.

what is the startup cost for one of those machines?

A bit of a touchy subject for many.
In principal...its supposed to be pretty grassroots.
You can get a decent used car for $6-10K. Expect an engine rebuild once a season for $1K.
A set of spec tires (good for the whole season) $500.
The rest is gas, entry fees and consumables.
Parts are cheap...the front end is a slightly modified Beetle torsion bar setup.

You want to be in the top 5?
Get a tweaked engine from the states...$5K...if you can find one.
Then spend every spare moment tweaking alignments, bushings, etc.

Sounds like a RIOT.
1050 lbs with driver...hmm ~870 lbs wet... if i made a cheap trailor i could probably tow this with my civic.

I will look more into this, it sounds like what i want to do.

Except you'll need a ton of tools and stuff with you so you need a truck anyways LOL.

Or just do what Kevin is doing and rent it.

#25...dat my car.
personally...I think the Stilleto #23 is the best car of the group.

I'm shopping for a more competitive chassis/engine...essentially double what those cars are going for.
