I was surprised that they were kinda puzzled by the change in handling to the car after they "lightened" it in a few places by cutting out structural pieces of the car, hollowing them out, and leaving only the outer skin - relying on the roll cage for rigidity. It looked like most of the inner structure they cut out was from the door pillar backwards. That changes the weight bias (less of a problem), and possibly introduces some flex at some key chassis points (maybe more of a problem). From what I saw they caged the unibody chassis rather than building a full on chassis and hanging the body on it after wards. I'm no race car builder - but it kind of makes sense, no?
