Go to the Ferrari day June 18th, $350 for a full day. I've gone the last 2 years and there are a lot of newbies, like A LOT. The beginners run group should be a piece of cake for you with your past experience. Watch a few YouTube vids to get a feel for the track, study the layout, talk to a few of the experienced CMP guys here (ie. not me) and go out and have fun. There's always someone slower than you.

I actually work on my car...I don't yell at Tom from a 4 meter distance with a sweater vest brandashing a bottle of windex making sure my fingernails don't get dirty...

Posers are people who say they want in but come game day they haven't paid and are upset "they missed this one"...

Pay up, Seb has the free spot.

if your car is aligned, you will not wear your 'track tires' at all on the street.

signed, someone who uses R888s as street tires.

I used to be like that. then I found out track tires do not go 30000km+ heck 15k would have been nice.

Maxxis MAv1, quality street tire, available at your nearest No Limits Parts Franchise, google for a location near you. I'm gonna get 50k or more out of these. crazy talk right there.

sweet thanks man. i think the volvo is 500 pounds more then your mustang not sure if that makes a difference. and im told that theres a huge difference in body roll due to the suspension design of a 2wd suppose to a awd. one guy told me to take my drive shaft out of the rear to get more power and better gas mileage. but i feel some struts and springs are in order for it. tires i think worked great. i really dont know but there was a bit of give in the rear but i feel on a big course its gonna understeer so i should apex late and take it slow right?

one guy told me to take my drive shaft out of the rear to get more power and better gas mileage. now that's funny. Just drive. It's not rocket surgery. I've seen your stock wagon be competitive with a good driver. Slick? on MCO/MR I think ran one of these for a couple seasons.

mo power to front wheels, remove drv shaft!... lolz

May 27th, 2010, 12:02am
not kidding. i kinda believe it would work but it woud be stupid too have the stock awd suspension and transfer case in there for no reason. theres no reason to take it out. well for me anyway but two others at the carlisle show actually did lol

man, seriously who cares.

just go out there, have FUN- thats all that matters.
and be safe of course.

no one is out to judge you if you're not keeping up with 300hp+ cars...It's about having a good time man.

Andy if you wanna take the 740 out, it's yours...just don't f'k around with my boost settings.

Andre

Oh, and Andy FWIW you, myself and probably half this board cannot come close to driving a car 8/10's of its ability. At the BMW schiool there were guys in stock 318's taking Corvette and M3 doors... It's all about the driver, best mod is to teach your brain and leave your car alone. slow car fast > fast car slow

joe_herz

@ the BMW school I got passed by a Mini Clubman and a Genesis. I easily outpower both of those cars but I apparently couldn't outdrive them...

Quit thinking about it, just get in and drive.

You've been afraid and asking question in every lapping thread! Either get out there or stop spamming the threads dude. Seriously!

Stop comparing to others, mod or don't mod as you please. But you won't know what's worth it unless you drive it! Just my opinion.

I was just as apprehensive. Took me years to just do it. I always had an excuse, wrong car, car not working, no time...I regret never taking my Neon out to Auto-X and that's at least 5 years ago.

Not sure the 5 will make it either but lapping days are good enough. I just need the wife to buy in to my hobby...

You're way overthinking it. I used to lap with a Legacy wagon, 250km on the clock with marshmellow suspension. I was by no means the fastest car out there but also wasn't the slowest. My reason for going was to have fun regardless of my or my car's ability.

The car had 0 mods, I used to run worn out R comps just to save my street tires from wear but that's it.
